Since the middle of the last century, Stramit has been a name renowned for innovation in the development of boards and panels. For many years, Stramit’s compressed strawboard products led the field in domestic wall lining, partitioning and roof decking solutions, together with similar commercial options for both industrial and agricultural applications. The flexibility of the product enabled such diverse applications as heavy machine base boards for sound and vibration absorption and insulation packs for water tank lagging. The well known Easiwall® strawboard domestic partitioning system was a market leader for many years and is still manufactured and used widely outside the UK. It is estimated that some 250,000 houses built in the UK alone have Stramit Easiwall partitioning installed. Stramit also used it’s expertise in lamination to develop compressed strawboard archery products, widely supplied throughout Europe.
Towards the end of the last century, changes in UK building regulations and advances in new technologies led to the design of new partitioning systems, in turn demanding new types of boards and panels.
To this end, Stramit began development of a new Easiwall® range of products resulting in the highly successful CanBerra™ and ConCor™ boards and panels. The Easiwall® product range of Stramit Panel Products are still manufactured on the same site in Suffolk where strawboard products were manufactured for many years. ConCor™ and CanBerra™ are primarily aimed at the commercial interiors sector and utilise a diverse range of substrates such as plasterboard, flaxboard, paper honeycomb and timber derivatives (MDF, chipboard, plywood, hardboard etc), and are available either plain for site decoration or pre-decorated in a vast selection of finishes and colours including vinyls, high pressure laminates, melamine and galvanised or painted steel.
Expansion into new industries with focus on laminating and panel products, Stramit developed the sophisticated ElecoFloor® range of acoustic flooring. ElecoFloor® competes against traditional timber batten acoustic systems with the added benefits of siginificantly faster installation times, less material use and reduced depth of separating floor zone. Ideal for renovation projects where floor to ceiling heights are limited but more commonly used in new building projects where a reduction of time on site is key to reducing carbon, health and safety risks and ultimately savings on costs.
The Stramit business now extends way beyond the above and we are always pleased to look at the most demanding enquiries to provide bespoke solutions for partitioning panel requirements.
